Design and display
Amazfit GTS 2 new version comes with some tweaks in design compared to the old variant. The new version comes with 2.5D glass and a matte plastic bottom shell build while the straps are made from silicone. The aluminium alloy case used on the watch helps make it lighter. Surprisingly, there is no mention of diamond-like carbon coating adding protection against scratches and wear. There is a single physical button on the side that helps to operate the watch. The watch also has 5 ATM certification and offers protection up to 50 metres in depth.
Amazfit GTS 2 new version is slightly wider, thicker and heavier than its predecessor. It weighs around 24.7 grams without the strap and has a thickness of 9.7 mm. The watch is available in space black and petal pink colour options.
On the front, Amazfit GTS 2 new version has a curved bezel-less design. There is a 1.65-inch AMOLED panel offering a resolution of 348*442 pixels with 341 PPI density. The watch is operated by touch and there are more than 60 watch faces to choose from. The user also has the freedom to customise the watch face. They can upload their own photos as a watch face and the watch will even support always-on display on the customised watch face. The screen of the Amazfit GTS 2 new version can rotate 180 degrees, making it convenient for both, left and right-handed users.
Health and fitness tracking
Amazfit GTS 2 new version is equipped with a high-precision BioTracker 2 PPG optical sensor. This allows the watch to monitor 24-hour heart rate, blood-oxygen level, sleep monitoring and all-day stress level monitoring. The watch also includes and Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) health assessment system. PAI is a customised health evaluation system, in which the results are calculated by processing data about the user’s heart rate, exercise time and other complex health information. The automatic set target on the watch is 100 PAI per day.
Other than this, the watch has more than 90 built-in sports modes and has smart recognition of six sports modes. It can intelligently recognise outdoor running, walking, pool swimming, outdoor cycling, treadmill and elliptical trainer. However, like in GTR 2’s new version, it too does not recognise if the user is cycling outdoor or on a motorbike ride. This can be a bit annoying if you are frequently on the motorbike.
Besides this glitch, the watch does interesting work by providing a detailed analysis of your workout. The workout can even be viewed from your smartphone or tablet if it is connected to the watch. It even provides details about your sleeping patterns, your heart rate and your stress level. The watch sends you a notification to move if you are sitting idle for a long period. The watch also alerts you if you have an irregular or abnormal heartbeat.
Connectivity, battery life and other features
Amazfit GTS 2 new version is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The watch is connected to the Zepp app and through the app, you can have a comprehensive analysis of multiple data sources. However, the watch can only be connected if the devices have a compatible OS. The devices should either have Android 5.0 or higher (Android) and iOS 10 or higher (Apple) OS.
The watch and the device get connected through Bluetooth. After the watch is connected to the device, you will have access to multiple features. You can receive notifications of your favourite app through the watch or even receive a phone call. You can even customise the alert duration and intensity. Similarly, the 3GB local storage on the watch can be used to store music and play from the watch itself. If you have a Spotify account on your device, you can also play music from it.
Powering Amazfit GTS 2 new version is a 246 mAh non-removable li-po battery. The battery can last up to seven days under normal use while it will drain down to three days if it is used heavily. Like most Amazfit watches, Amazfit GTS 2 new version also uses a magnetic charger and can get the battery fully charged in two hours.
The watch has an in-built microphone and speakers that can be used for calls and music. It has built-in Alexa support for voice commands and also has offline voice assistance. It has the support of GPS+ GLONASS positioning. The watch also has a wear detection function, which will automatically lock the watch for safety purposes when the user takes it off.
The price of the Amazfit GTS 2 new version is Rs 20,499 and you can get it from authorised distributors like Brother Mart Pvt Ltd.
