Kathmandu, November 2
Tribhuvan University, Nepal’s biggest and oldest university, is preparing to give a weeklong holiday for the November 20 elections.
The university’s rector Shiva Lal Bhusal says the weeklong holiday means the winter vacation might be shortened to balance the academic calendar.
Because most of the students studying away from home will go back to their original places to cast votes and some of the campuses will be used as voting centres, the weeklong off is necessary, according to him.
The exact dates for the election holiday are not decided, but it is likely that it will begin on November 17, three days before the elections.
